Examples of the amazing Art and creativity at music festivals...
I've been taking part in festivals since around 2004 and I've been working at them, officially, since 2011, creating spaces, art, decorating, performance and theatre, running workshops and kitchens and getting involved with production, event management and creative direction.
I've been to and/or worked at Secret Garden Party, Wilderness, Glastonbury, Glade, Shambala, Field Day, Lovebox, Big Chill, T in the Park, Winterwell, Sunrise, Into the Wild, Over the Moon, Kimberley and Give, Citadel, The Rollright Fayre, Feast of Fools, Fat Boy Slim on Brighton beach (a few times), Burning Man, Aurora (in Greece), Wonderfruit, a couple of crazy Californian affairs, Kolour and lots more!
I love them, I think they are a social movement that helps save people's lives and show people a better way is possible. I'll save that argument for the Educationalism section, but for now I wanted to share some of the amazing things I've seen or been a part of at these events.
From Emma Winter at Wantona Productions, Ed Hicks, Joel Dean, Andrew Cross, Himbad, Aoife Van Linden Tol and The Artful Badger, Bearded Kitten, Jo Vidler at Secret Productions, to working on Burning Man art cars and so much more, I've had the honour of meeting and working with some really talented artists and creatives. There's also hundred of other vital creative people at work at these sort of events, but even though they are all geniuses, you've probably never heard of them. They often build a work of art over a week, which stays up for a week and then is destroyed over another week. It's not always saved for another show. In fact, it rarely is. That means you are really missing out on some true works of art. Check the pictures and links below out and then get yourself to a music festival!
This was one of my favourite moments at SGP:
I collect other media and things linked to this sort of creativity on my creativity facebook page, here... and my CV is at the bottom of this page too.
Here are a selection of photos...
